Hats off to Chanel for coming up with chain straps, but the heavy hardware is getting a modern makeover, says Elizabeth Kiester, the creative guru behind LeSportsac, who adds, "This ain't your grandmother's bag." The company's new O.C. line punches it up with bold prints and funky fabrics.

Celebs like Beyoncé know that shimmer works well on the red carpet. But for everyday use, Kiester recommends adding some edgier details to your bag, like stripes, polka dots and charms. "They give it the twist that makes it fun and youthful," she says.
